Yonsei Underwood Union (YUU) is Yonsei University’s premier and only Varsity English Parliamentary Debate Society. Since its founding in 2006, YUU has established itself as one of the most prestigious collegiate debating societies in Asia, representing Yonsei University both domestically and internationally.

Each academic year, YUU debates in the Asian Parliamentary format during the first semester and the British Parliamentary format in the second, allowing members to compete in the formats of major intervarsity tournaments. As a result, YUU members consistently place as top speakers and judges, grand finalists, and champions, reinforcing the society’s long-standing reputation in collegiate debate.

Competitive achievements are just one part of the experience: for many members, YUU becomes more than a club, shaped by late-night debates, travelling together for tournaments, and shared time spent having thoughtful conversations. Parliamentary debate encompasses a wide range of topics, from social issues and philosophy to current events, economics, and even pop culture, and the discussions often continue long after the round ends.
